well if we go with prolifics claims, without the alarm there to wake us, we wouldnt expect it thus wouldnt wake.

before alarm clocks foolish humans relied on earths yellow sun.

And needing to piss in the moring. But most people are actually awake before the alarm goes off (as already mentioned). People are in bad moods because people are naturally assholes.
