Boa Morte - Old album, New album

Way back in 2002, when Boa Morte released their debut album ‘Soon it will come time to face the world outside’, it was met with universal acclaim at home in Ireland. Abroad, it earned four star reviews in the likes of Mojo and Uncut. A worldwide release on Shoeshine Records was so successful that all first and second pressings sold out completely. The band toured extensively, headlining on their own as well as touring with the likes of Teenage Fanclub and Calexico. John Peel hopped on board and played the band on his seminal BBC radio show.
In 2004 and 2005, Boa Morte went back into the studio with US producer Daniel Presley and recorded their follow-up album. However, the often-heard story of record company hesitancy in the light of an uncertain, ever-changing music retail landscape led to delay after delay.
Now, at last, the long awaited second album, ‘The Dial Waltz’ is set for release in February 2010. In advance of this, the band’s first album is available to download for the very first time on iTunes, Amazon mp3, eMusic, Napster and elsewhere. Our favourite download site is eMusic.. This represents a great chance for those who missed getting a copy of the album first time around.
More details to follow on the second album and tour in the coming months. Keep an eye on www.myspace.com/myboamorte for more.

The inlay was inked with angels tears...

And HMV were robbing fuckers until they felt the might of CD Wow, Amazon et al.

The whole HMV plan was that, in order to sell sale items at really low prices to compensate by charging as much as possible for back catalogue. i remember raging bull was e45 for ages. Once again it is not robbing if you do not pay it but hard on smaller acts but Virgin/Plugd were just up the road

I remember being in HMV once trying to justify paying £30+ for a Manic Street Preachers Japanese import single. As much as I love the MSP, I couldn't and walked away without it. A few years later I happened upon the same CD in a record shop in London still in the Sony Japan packaging for a fiver.

Or when I bought a Fugazi album in there, I think it was "Red Medicine", for £25 pounds. It had the import sticker on it. I got the record home flipped to the back cover only to read "This record is $9 postage paid from Dischord."

Back on topic can't wait to hear the new Boa Morte album.

I went online to purchase a CD set of 3 (Irish Pub Music). Total cost online €18, at HMV Patrick St, Cork €9.45 (approx). Recession?
