I met John Squire from the Stone Roses in the Everyman last night. Liam Gallagher was knocking around too, the two of them are in Cork recording for some reason.

Squire was raging because he couldnt get a late residents drink in the Metropole. Poor form

Lol. Squire said he’d given up the gargle a while ago. They’re on round 2 of a Gallagher/Squire album, only because Noel Gallagher is having a year off.

Tbf he didn't say he was drinking, but they were annoyed that the bar wouldn't serve residents after midnight.

U2s sound fella Joe Herlihy was at the gig in the Everyman too. I think he's done every U2 show since like their 4th gig.

Why would they come to Cork to record? I'm assuming it's that place in Ballyvourney

That is poor form alright, if they aren’t serving after midnight. If Squire is with Liam, safe to assume they are on the lash+++. I don’t know why they’d come to cork to record but I know Squire has a recording and art studio in some mansion he owns on the outskirts of Macclesfield. Did you chat much with Johnny boy?

was it any good?

It was actually surprisingly good. I've seen that band a few times and I've always been disappointed. Last time was in the Opera House with Pat McManus supporting. On paper it should have been an unreal gig, but the place was 2/3 empty. The Everyman was far better as a venue, although the setlist could have done with a bit more effort. No Million miles away, no Follow Me, no Bullfrog Blues, no Philby.

It's essentially a tribute show like, you need to be ticking off the big fan favorites
