I saw the Red Chilli Hot Peppers with The Pixies and Goove Armada in Phoenix Park in 2004.

Around that time the Chillis were about the biggest band in the world. They did Landsdowne Road in 2002 and Slane in 2003.

I wouldn't cross the road for them now. A band that has aged terribly

lol the chillis saw the absolute cash cow ireland was in the early 00s and had no shame in milking it.

Themselves and Metallica were shameless for it. I saw Metallica in Dublin in 2003, 2004, 2006, in the same venue playing pretty much the same setlist

Last time I saw Metallica I left early because there was a world cup semi final on that night

i saw the chili peppers at slane maybe the year you’re on about. queens of the stone age and foo fighters supporting. you’d be at work back around then with the radio on and there’d be a chili peppers song on every half an hour 😂😂😂

That was 2003, I saw them in Phoenix Park in 2004.

That lineup for Slane was incredible.

Chillis
Foo Fighters
QOTSA
Feeder

And a few more. I was raging that I wasn't allowed go because Feeder would be one of my favorites, but my mum correctly stated that they'd probably only get a 30 minute slot anyway.

22 years later they played Cork City Hall 🤘🎸

feck! i forgot feeder were there. maybe i didn’t get there on time to see them. i saw them twice after though.

one thing about that slane gig. a great friend of mine drove two of us up to it. the needle för the petrol tank was stuck at red so there was no idea of knowing if we were ok för fuel or not only by counting the miles to the gallon lol

we listened to heartworm by whipping boy most of the way home.

edit:

a bit like you wanting to see feeder at slane i had a cousin who knew i was obsessed with guns n roses in 92 and in his sixteen year old brain he tried his hardest to convince my mam to let ten year old me head to slane with him lol

no tickets. no nothing. just get the bus up, see what happens and maybe meet the gnr crew lol

And did ye get up to GnR?

My mum was very good to be fair. I wasn't allowed go to anything in 2002, but in 2003 I went to Feeder, Audioslave, Bon Jovi, Metallica, Linkin Park, The Darkness, Funeral for a Friend, Machine Head, and Iron Maiden.

When I write it like that, 2003 was fucking amazing in hindsight. I was 13/14 and getting to see all those bands. I still have the tickets to all those shows. I try and keep tickets to every gig and match I go to.

he headed up with his friends but none of them got tickets.

i’d be the same as you with ticket stubs. they’d either be in a drawer somewhere or used as bookmarks. digitalisation has ruined that now unless you print out your a4 qr code 😢
