Mail has dropped hugely in the last few years and the mail centre wasn't needed and it saved the company 10 million a year. A good lot of the staff were redeployed, around 80 of the drivers based there afaik.
200 jobs lost is an easy headline for the perma outraged with out delving deeper.Loads of work for drivers etc as An Post has increased deliveries and invested hugely in competing with DHL & UPS etc who are also hiring.

Same story with High Street PO - the postmaster is retiring and they haven't been able to find a replacement
Well he registered his protestDid Mick Barry call for this sort of thing to be STAMPed out? Was he very FRANK in his outspokenness? Did he say that the minister should get the SACK? Did he do anything illegal, or was his protest within the LETTER of the law?
