Big Tech - Time to breakup ?

What do ye reckon ?

Google , Apple and Facebook were before Congress yesterday . It’s been talked about for years about how these companies wield too much power especially Facebook.

I think the net, pardon the somewhat pun, is tightening on them. Apple and Google I think are good but for FB I think the case could definitely be made for isolating each of its core companies , Instagram , whatsapp, Facebook App and Occulus.

Maybe if they were made spin off their advertising sales operations. Like they keep the networks but multiple companies can sell advertising a la eirgrid/electric ireland.

Amazon, Google and Microsoft have all done really well out of cloud computing, the cloud revenue in a few years will be absolutely unreal.

Nvidia are talking about buying ARM today.

Big Tech is scary m8's.

The cloud is very good at helping me delete my surplus pictures and videos because I refuse to pay them a monthly fee.

One of these days the cu#ts will take away the free 5GB allowance.

OOh, I wouldn't think that will be good, getting to be a very monolithic setup if that happens.

While I love the idea of getting off Google, the Sailfish OS leaves a lot to be desired.

You'd want a degree in comp sci to be able to set it up, or enough free time to debug half of the apps/ settings.

It's a Linux computer in your pocket essentially.

Don't see why they can't just fork android like GrapheneOS does. Motorola announced a deal with them lately so we might see their stuff shipping sans Google as an option soon.
