Death announced of Cork music legend Cathal Coughlan

The former lead singer of Microdisney and Fatima Mansions passed away in the UK

Awful - hammering out material goodo over the last few months an' all - nobody knew how sick he was.

Still remember the incendiary Fatima Mansions gig sometime in the early 90's in Henry's. They ripped the place apart with "Blues for Ceaucescu" that night.

I can’t admit I really kept track of his later career but Cathal was synonymous with the Arc. It was such a brilliant venue for live music (particularly new wave, punk, mod, ska, reggae) in Cork …
