Best beer garden in town?

20505020_2.jpg
Badly missed.

Happy Days!

Hannah Barrett's, the old Silver Goblet, has a great beer garden.

Been in there a few times and never knew that it had a beer garden

And of course the one that used be an absolute cracker, and may depending on the planning laws be reverting to one, The Anglers Rest - think that's technically within the City now.

🙂
The Anglers garden was great. Back in the 1980s I spent many a brilliant Saturday afternoon there when the weather was good. Drive home to Bishopstown after 3/4 pints of Heineken. Sunday's weren't as good as it used to be full of kids and Norries.😉

Beer gardens are shite IMO.

If you want to sit outdoors drinking then just head to the offie and sit literally anywhere in Cork. The Five-0 have bigger fish to fry these days than lads sipping a few beers in public.

I frequently have a few bottles with my friends in the little park by Shandon. Nobody cares, just be decent and clean up your rubbish.

Where's that,on Shandon St somewhere? Don't know any park around there

Is there any beer garden in Cork that isn't a glorified smoking area?

The outside area of Fionnbarra's is nice and Alan has done a great job with that bar over the last 20-odd years but every table is given over to smokers. It's not enjoyable to sit out there for a whole evening.

I say this a a person who used to smoke up to 2 packs of Marlboro a day. I used to get up from the bench if there were any non-smokers in the group.

I have no problem with smoking (stupid and all as it is) or smokers but I think that we need to follow the route of bars in the US and Canada where you can't simply spark up at any oul table you like just because it's outside.
