Belfast - Genuine Question

When I lived in Cork I never wished to visit Belfast but recently I've heard good things about the place tbf. There are probably some nutters still living in the past there but it seems to be friendly enough there now.

It was always friendly. People are people at the end of the day. Show respect to people, whatever their beliefs or heritage and I’ve always got along with people, particularly, when sitting on a high stool.

Cracking city, and if you just don't act the eejit you'll be fine. Most people are just out for a bit of craic on a night out. It's odd with your accent being a novelty on the same island, though my Ulster classmates cleaned up with the ladies in uni in Limerick.
Wear a Munster jersey or something. I am sure that would be a safe conversation starter amongst the orange and the green.

Free State talk is Nordie republican generally, though I have seen unionists call us the Free State, and Southern Ireland. Either way they're all fucked up sectarians.

Yeah there are some holes like that unfortunately, Carrick, Larne, Ballymena, Bangor and Newtonards you'd have some really sucky people around in some pockets.

Belfast generally isn't like that, it's usually good craic, safe, and there's lots to do.

Different story if you get involved with the paramilitaries, owe a drugs, debt, etc.

I worked for a uk company that had branches all over the place.
There were four staff in Belfast. 3 were the soundest fellas you could meet and great craic when out. Didnt know for a long time that they were prods, and it didnt matter a bit. The other fella was a catholic and a absolute idiot.

Its actually one of the most depressing things about NI in general that the measure of the place is determined still in lots of ways by religion and whether you are catholic or protestant . Ok in my own case im a kind of lapsed catholic , wouldn't br a church goer but still go into churches to reflect and grab a bit of time to my own thoughts and remember those departed from my life.
I live in an area where there are many different churches but to tell the truth I wouldn't have a clue who around me is what religion or any. NI would be a much better place if that was the case there too.
