Batsh*t Crazy Green Party

The reality is there are too many families with two cars who don’t need two cars.
When you say too many, what number you think? I have kids involved in various sports and activities all over the city and county, how could I get them there without two cars. At times two isn't enough and carpool is required.
For example how many GAA grounds could you send a kid to training or a match on bus?

I totally accept that. A lot of families need two cars especially with both parents working and the reality that you describe.

Perhaps I was a little guilty of looking to my own childhood when we always got by just fine with one car in the family.

In terms of car pooling though, that should be happening anyway in my opinion. No sense in a car with one or two kids heading off to Midleton or Ballincollig when there is space for more. Totally accept public transport isn’t an option in these circumstances.

It was shut in 2022 because they were burning russian coal and the supply dried up for some reason I can't quite remember.

But I’d love to know who’s funding the “Irish Academy of Engineers”…it’s a think-tank rather than a representative body for engineers. They come out with this “we need to burn coal” shit every year. This is from this time last year:

UK Green Party putting it up to their Irish counterparts: will Roddy et al be able to respond?

Former Trinity College Dublin student. ☝️

There's a lot to unpack in that headline, but loosening the rules really blew up in the SNP's face

'Moneypoint Power Station (in County Clare, Ireland) ceased coal-fired generation in June 2025 as part of Ireland’s climate policies and transition to renewables, making the country coal-free for electricity production'.

You are fake news. sad.

It didn’t shut in 2022, in fact 2022 was the year they commissioned Ireland’s first synchronous compensator to use renewable fuels mainly offshore wind. This was planned, ordered and installed before the Russian invasion.
They continued to burn coal from Columbia up to 2025. They now burn oil as well to generate electricity but I believe this is only till 2028

The slight problem with car-pooling for bringing kids to matches now afaik is you need two adults per car for child protection so that just leaves room for 3 u-18s in the back.
