Batsh*t Crazy Green Party

They probably achieved more of their manifesto or red lines than any party ever, particularly for a small party in a coalition. However electing Rodders as leader probably lost them what remained of "give them a 2nd or 3rd preference" voters.
Looking at their first preferences numbers, their own hardcore support deserted them in droves as well.
Spot on - disastrous day for the country IMO but light the bonfires lads

For all the bluster about carbon taxes they are a small component of the cost of filling up :

"Whether or not you agree with a carbon tax, it seems to be a lightning rod that is used to damn all environmental measures, despite not accounting for a fraction of fuel costs.

For example, on a litre of petrol costing 171.52 euro cents, carbon tax accounts for 14.69 cents, while excise accounts for 54.18 cents and VAT is 32.07 cents. But it is the carbon tax that critics want scrapped, though most of the money is ring-fenced to help finance green initiatives and other climate-related policies such as home retrofits as well as being used to tackle energy poverty."

Correct. They forced FF and FG into taking climate change seriously. That alone is a legacy to be proud of.
Little consolation I’d say!

I am delighted the country didn’t do something stupid and lurch to the right like others have recently, but we haven’t half shown our hand on climate change - people don’t give a fuck when pressed, and that applies to the vast majority

dont worry... nothing changes in this country without the civil service sayso. it doesnt matter if hitler, maggie thatcher and sadam hussein were elected as a coalition.... nothing would change.... i cant believe we fall for the same stuff every election.... i think the whole country need to read the emperors new clothes again!!

When u think about it, Rodders keeping his seat is a good thing. Whatever chance they had of rebuilding is completely gone with that toxic idiot still in the Dail. 😆
By all accounts it apparently is critical as funding would massively decrease for the party without a sitting TD

When he's standing there all alone he might reflect on his input into the sorry situation
