Batsh*t Crazy Green Party

I don't mind the endpoint. I mind the practicality in getting there. That it's right isn't in question. That the country can function with the aggressive ideological schedule is. But as usual, dissent isn't tolerated.

I mention Norway deliberately.

Normally seen as a bastion of environmentalism, Statoil are off drilling and exploring as if butter doesn't melt. Think they might be called EquNor now actually.
What is the difference between Norway and Ireland?

Less corruption in Norway?
Fewer politicians feathering their own nest to the detriment of Jo(e) Public?

Ireland and Norway are pretty close on Transparency Internationals Corruption index.

Corruption Perceptions Index 2022 – ‘No room for complacency’ as Ireland perceived to be less affected by corruption than UK for first time in 25 years

31 January 2023
Dublin, 31 January 2023
Transparency International (TI) Ireland has urged government and opposition politicians to make a renewed commitment to ethics and anti-corruption reforms as it publishes the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2022 today.
Ireland’s CPI score is considered to have improved significantly since last year when it received 74 points out of 100. The latest index gives it 77 points out of 100, ranking it in 10th place out of 180 countries. This means that Ireland is now perceived to be less affected by corruption than the UK, Australia, and Canada for the first time since 1997.

In the countries listed on the graphic you provided yourself you should notice that Norway is sitting 4th (scoring 84) in terms of perception of least corrupt while Ireland is sitting 10th (scoring 77).
Perhaps you need a refresher in English and/or Maths as to what "Less corruption in Norway (compared to Ireland)" means.

One wonders if Norway ever had a Minister for Finance who never had a bank account or had the absolute brass neck to repeatedly lie and deny it. https://lovin.ie/video/bertie-ahern...erview-after-an-excruciatingly-awkward-moment

And having been shown to be corrupt he's actually tipped to run for President of this country and thousands of Fianna Fail cultees would vote for him.

If that doesn't scream of an acceptance in some quarters of corruption at governmental levels in this country then you're beyond help.

We are in one of the top 10 least corrupt countries on the planet despite all your amateur dramatic bluster.

Have a word with your buddies in Cuba and Venezuela there while you are at it.

One need only look to current politicians for examples of corruption. Mick Wallace is a convicted tax cheat who was declared bankrupt with debts of over €30 million.

He recently under-declared income in respect of 3 wine bars in Dublin.

He once threatened to hire a hitman to collect a debt.

But let’s be realistic for a second. He’s in a small minority and most corruption that takes place is at a smaller level than him.

We’ve come a long way but people like Wallace need to be removed from public life by their constituents. He’s making fools out of everyone.

We are a more corrupt nation than Norway - something you seem to have a problem in accepting when someone asked what's the difference between us and Norway.

Look again at the graphic that you posted yourself. See where Norway sits on it, see where Ireland sits on it, and at the very least TRY to understand the import of it.

I don't have buddies in Cuba or in Venezuela and given your insinuation that I have you've a neck Dirty Bertie would approve of when you accuse others of "amateur dramatic bluster"

Very little in reality as Ireland as a State and its institutions is one of the top 10 least corrupt countries on the planet.

Great to see you personally drop your historical solidarity with the corrupt repressive regimes in Venezuela and Cuba nonsense.

Sleepy Ryan and his dublin-centric policies are coming back to bite him in terms of the Green agenda.

Expert interviewed on Morning Ireland this morning bemoaning the fact that Belfast is the only port in Ireland capable of constructing the much vaunted Off-Shore Wind Farms that are going to be required for Ireland to satisfy the promise of 70% green generation of electricity by 2030.

Expert says not alone would we have to rely on construction in the UK and/or France but we haven't much chance of reaching that Green target with the current lack of investment in ports like Wexford, CORK, or Foynes.

It seems that if it's beyond the M50, green or not, Sleepy Ryand doesn't want to know about it
