TBH it's just nice to see a new name on the winners list. It got quite boring when it was the Messi v Ronaldo show for the bones of 15 years.

I'm fine with the award going to the most worthy winner, even if he's not an attacking player. The likes of Cannavaro, Sammer & Beckenbauer have won it in the past.

Of his three defeats across all competitions, including with the national side, only one was within 90 minutes (against Manchester United, with penalty shoot-out losses to Arsenal and Real Madrid).

That's astonishing. And it's not like he was along for the ride. He was the key man for Spain and up there with Haaland as key man for City.

Haaland by far and away the deserving winner.

I wouldn’t be against a defensive player like Rodri winning it in principle however his club success comes off the back financial doping, If City get found guilty Vinny J will have plenty to bitch about.

Real not showing up for the awards is a complete embarrassment and a microcosm of the petty politics these entitled c*unts are at regularly.

I’ve never been that interested in individual awards in a team game anyway and that includes my own U16 golden boot award many years ago.
