Dragging him down to school will help nobody. Let them walk a mile in your shoes and see if they think that "drag him to school" attitude will help.

Read a report today saying autism rates among school children in NI has quadrupled in the last decade, id imagine that is replicated down here, Is it a case of autism numbers were always this high but many kids were just written off as been disruptive, unruly, hyper etc? I have certainly heard more cases of non verbal kids here in recent years.

Knew nothing about it till my little grand nephew was diagnosed,he's non verbal but a beautiful little fella,
Meltdowns are off the wall though,
He's a lucky boy to have calm lovin' parents,
He's one of the lucky ones - getting a place in September in a designated school on tbe old youghal Rd,
Feel for those left behind,
Thinking back to my national school days , guys in the corner and with dunces caps on etc,
And same chaps getting leashed by the teachers for constant disruptive behaviour had to have been on the spectrum.

Was chatting with a student ID nurse a few years ago and as part of the course she was doing she had to read some reports from the 1970s as to how people with Inettectual disabilites were spoken about, and this was by the professionals. Fat, Lazy, unmotivated, stupid, retarded etc etc. As a kind young woman going into this for her career she was absolutely livid.

A retired teacher who taught me in primary school told me recently that if they knew then what is known now they would
have treated kids differently and with empathy, He said he thinks of certain kids who were dismissed as messers, disruptive, troublesome,
And now realises they were on the spectrum,

Ah ffs, people really should know better now. That's the height of ignorance.

If you were, it were probably be worse for you having to put up with that crap.

I bloody hate discrimination in any form. It's utterly stupid, pointless and ridiculous. You get to spend 70 to 100 years on this earth if you're lucky. And you're going to spend even 1 minute of it hating people who are different.

That's a waste of life imho.
