What would it take for him to get to that point ? In terms of services ?For him to be ok, for us as a family to be happy

Could they not remove him to the Garda station and have a doctor come in to see him Jim?We had to get the guards to the house two weeks ago as the young fella went berserk,
Slapped his mother and threatened to kill me, total out of body experience, He was roaring awful things about his two grandmother's who he adores,
Guards said there was nothing they could do, GP issue, GP sent referral to camhs
Is there a solution that is not being provided ?This can’t be a huge surprise. CAMHS has been under funded and stretched for the last 10-15 yrs at least.
All the while childhood mental health issues have increased to a level that’s off the charts. Social media, bullying, Covid, lockdowns etc etc fuelling the issues.
Government know this but services have not scaled to meet the demand.
Children don’t get support unless suicidal ideation levels are high. It’s shocking.
This is no excuse for what’s happened in Kerry btw.
He will be 15 in April, He has seen a psychologist , also linked with CDNT east cork, Had some sessions also with pieta
We are split on it, my wife says yes but I'm very cautious,I don’t want to get too personal but, was he offered medication and would you and your wife/partner be in favour of it?
You don’t have to answer.
Its all about passing the buck, the guards say maybe bring him to hospital,Could they not remove him to the Garda station and have a doctor come in to see him Jim?
That sounds like a bad meltdown and he obviously needed help.
Christ that must have been so tough on you all![]()

Fair play PontiI think if he’s not on medication it really sounds like it’s time maybe he should. It would help him and help the family.
My daughter has been through this and I was very cautious like you, but myself and my wife chatted and eventually went with it. Add regular appointments also and it would be a big help.
Nobody is actually properly trained or equipped to deal with it effectivelyIts all about passing the buck, the guards say maybe bring him to hospital,
About 3 years ago we did so, After 7 hours a camhs doctor sat down with him, He was calm then, She took notes and sent us home
