Artificial Intelligence. How far away is it?

I had AI create code for me to manipulate a csv file, it did a decent job but every time I ran it it gave me different output (formatting wrong, not picking up the number of tabs required etc). I asked it why the output was different every time, the answer it gave was that it was simplifying the code!!!

You have to be very exact with it and be explicit in what you do and don’t want it to do. That makes it difficult for repetitive tasks where you want standardised output each and every time.
Ya that was my first attempt at vibe coding. And like I said it was given unintelligible spaghetti code that wasn't touched for years because it just worked.

Tbf I find it fantastic for donkey work if you use sensible interface, class and method names. And the more consistent your code is the easier it is for AI to know what you're doing.

I've yet to work with an MCP Sever so that could be interesting.

The world badly needs an agent for junior positions though or else there'll be no seniors when we all retire!

I'm not a tech nerd by any stretch, but anything bulit/programmed by humans is going to be inherently flawed.

The more permissions we give it the more open to error it will be.

I'd be very cautious about advancing this stuff before its properly stress tested but I'm presuming the experts are aware of it's flaws and limitations. The worry is greed will trump due diligence.

Anyone know who this Miles lad is? Has he "provenance".
Because this sounds awful clickbaity. Not on Twitter myself so couldn't judge the tenor of this.

Edit: And I wouldn't trust the tech boyos as far as I could throw them.
I've no idea. But I have seen most of these stories reported elsewhere when they hapenned. Even if he is a bit click baity he's just reporting stuff really.
