Android TV Box Recommendations

I only have the Irish players and IPTV.

Full 4k generally works away no bother.
Same - but having lived up north 20 years love the bbc I player

My Humax box the bastard is after losing all my recordings🙄a year of emmerdale and all top gear episodes and history stuff etc
My IPTV supplier says soaps etc are not available or supported
Know I sound a boring bastard 👍😝but I’m watching emmerdale since twas in black and white,
My mates just look on me with disdain/ pity when I mention it,,,,,,,,,,, frequently

Yeah with IPTV you have to watch the soaps live. Doesn't bother me because we dont watch them. You can use a firestick and Nord for BBC iplayer but its a bit fiddly to set up and use. Same with ITV player.
You have to use Nord on your phone as well to link the TV and then everytime you use it you have to clear the cache first, force stop it and then launch Nord. Also not all the Nord locations work, I had bother with London before.

Used a humax for years and years when I had no fast Internet and was reliant on satellite for tv. Was a great box, had the 1 TB memory and used series link everything I liked because the players were geo blocked and it was close to impossible to work around them on the humax. However mine went the same way in the end and the recording feature stopped working. It didnt matter to me in the end because I had got fibre at that stage and I completely converted to iptv and Stremio.

When I was setting up my Mother's tv, I got her the most recent version because she still has her dish and mostly watches the Brit channels and it's very easy to use as it's similar to Sky with pausing rewinding etc. Humax dont make the box any more, the new version is still dear as fuck but I got it cheaper from a crowd in the north.

You think stremio makes a difference with the IPTV?

Stremio is a different app.
I use it in tandem with Real Debrid for all my movies and TV series.
My IPTV app is for TV. It also has tv series and movies but I rarely if ever use it for them.
So I moved from satellite to Internet tv.
I use an IPTV app from the seven seas ☠️ (Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum) for TV.
And the Stremio app for movies and series.

My plan
I’ve a second hand 1100 sHDR Humax coming from Cex
Bought a sata hard drive
Whipped out the old one,
Expected to be able to record again- no joy a motherboard issue.
Plan B- whip out the hard drive in theCEX Humax,
Put in my old one with my beloved Emmerdale recordings,
Hopefully they’ll play on it.

With CEX there’s a 5 year warranty so if it fucks up I’ll whip it back to them ( for e120 it’s well worth it)

PS you’re bang on ref Humax no work around ref I player etc,
Though I have BBC sounds on my phone / Roberts radio/ iPad Air
So I’ve my local radio stations / radio Foyle: Ulster
And the BBC podcast etc/ so I’m spoilt- I’ve Neil on for most of the morning
Then Vinny &Cate-Radio Ulster
Then Radio Foyle
Love the radio/
When working I’m on my own -so its great company
ATM no obair for another 2 weeks so I catch up on all the sca in Cork and Derry

As a fella once said” we’d have taken over the world if Guinness wasn’t invented “😝😝😝
Paddy quick enough with workarounds

😅😅😅😅😅

So, would this be a good recommendation.. Mi TV Gen 3??

Or would you have up to date knowledge of such things?
I had to look up what you are talking about.
Im talking about apps not boxes. If and when Firesticks restrict my apps Ill probably go with what Herbert suggests.

cheaper version and by all accounts nearly as good.
Just because they are a lot cheaper then the Nvidia Shield and seem reliable enough

Just had a look at the replacement Humax boxes. Still very dear but does the job that the Humax did for you.

Just had a look there. Seems to have good reviews st a cheap price. Probably worth buying one and see how you get on.
Let us know, I might get one if it works out for you.
