I thought this was worthy of it's own thread as it's a topic that's getting increasing focus in the mainstream press, off the back of a groundswell of activity in among twitterati.

I'll kick things off with someone analytics related from a different sport.

I saw on Twitter that the NBA are now tracking the "secondary assists per game" stat or, as it's known on here, "assisting the assister".

Michael Carrick will be pleased.

I hear ya. It sounds kinda nerdy but there has to be a sizeable audience out there (and on here) for more nuanced analysis & new ways of analysing the play.

I suppose. I can stick up plenty of stuff here as I'm keeping spreadsheets on all top 5 leagues.
