Not a fan of rugby and the sailing lads annoy me. I think given the mass appeal of the GAA there should be at least one from both codes on the list. On that basis Gooch is the best footballer I’ve ever seen. Clifford may overtake him but not yet.

Harrington is the best golfer from the 26 counties in my lifetime anyway and I think he’s led the way for the likes of Rory to do what they’ve done.

Sonia was amazing in her era, but one silver Olympic medal and one gold World Championship medal doesn't cut it for top 10 imo.

Kellie Harrington's two Olympic gold medals (and World Championship gold) definitely warrants top 10.

Jason Smyth with 6 Parolympic golds and 8 World Championship golds is always overlooked in these things.

Again I'm not the top ten police,

Ireland not getting beyond a quarter final of a WC rules out almost all Irish Rugby Players for me.

BOD might squeak in for me on the basis that the 04 triple crown was the first in almost 20 years, that was backed up in 06, 07 and a grand slam in 09 as well as Captaining a lions tour.

His career was also almost like Muhammad Ali too in that he started as a Jinking side stepper and re invented himself as a killer tackler going in with the head were others wouldn't go in with the boot.
