same here since they blagarded Sid Whelehan and johnny pilkington in 1994 the two best hurlers of 1994 . they later gave brian whelehan a allstar for 40 mintues display at full forward again kilkenny in 1998.

Despite getting to final we were bang average all year…

the all stars have been rubbish the last 20 odd years who ever picks them don't watch to much hurling or football over the year.

The all star hurling team mirrored the Sunday Game team of the year and them lads watch a lot of hurling.

4 was about right for me with darragh , sod and hayeys certs .joyce won but could have been one or two close as well.
Hayes would have won hurler of year if cork won final whether he played well or not imo.
The fact they lost made john o dwyer a cert to win it , he had a great year.
Bit biased but for me Adam English should have won young hurler of year had outstanding year for limerick in my opinion.

I think it is less that we were average, and more that we were either brilliant or bad. Frequently within the same match!

We were more impressive in 2024 I think.

I stopped watching them or taking notice of them ever since Cork were blagarded in 2010 with only 3. And no forward. How you can win an All Ireland without an all star forward is beyond me

4 in 2010, same as Down.
In 1991, winners Down won less than Meath.
In 1997, losing Leinster semi-finalists Kildare won more than All-Ireland runners up Mayo.
