Alan Kelly steps down

How will it be the Greens fault if there are power cuts next winter?

If there was a proposal to build a nuclear power station anywhere in this country your shower would be first in line to oppose it, if not to blow it up.
Eamon at cabinet: “We don’t want a nuclear plant here but we’ll import electricity generated by nuclear power in France. We don’t want an LNG Terminal here but we’ll import fracked natural gas via the gas interconnector.”

Eamon in the leisure centre: “it’s OK, we’ll stay in the pool even though that fat guy down the deep end just crapped in the water. Now shut up and put on your swimming cap: for hygiene.”

:lol!:

I know. Not to mention the loss of biodiversity in the Amazon basin while Brazilian ranchers rush to meet the demand for grass fed beef now that Ireland is pulling out.
Still, I’m sure it will be great for Eamon when we’re only responsible for 0.0001% of global emissions instead of 0.001%

He’s definitely some operator.

:lol!:
Ireland isn't pulling out of beef m8, Teagasc have a plan in place to keep increasing cattle numbers until 2027, they have vague plans on reducing emissions at the same time which are based on hope rather than hard science.

Sas this on RTE last night.
A new UL study has shown that since the adoption of the nordic model in 2017 the lot of those involved in street prostitution has dramatically worsened.

Very sad reading.

Its worth noting that Labour leader Ivana Bacik was one of the key voices in pushing through this shoddy legislation in spite of sex worker advocacy groups predicting it would lead to just these outcomes.

The current law does not protect the safety of sex workers. We should listen to these people and enact laws that improve their lives not make them more difficult and dangerous.

Bacik leadership 'bump' has taken Labour from 4% to 3%. Christ knows how far they will plummet yet. Imagine making a woman in politics over twenty years before getting elected your party leader 😳

Bacik doing an entirely predictable job in taking Labour down the toilet.

SF will need the handful of Dublin TDs (and Sherlock) that they might retain to form a government though, as well as all the SDs, PBP, Mick De Dub, etc to come on board, if the above was to stay more or less the same come the next election.
Current government with few indos seems more likely but you'd never know.

except in Dublin - she in fairness will play well in Dublin a bit like Ryan.

The above shows the current big 2 could make it on their own next time out possibly with Indies or Greens if required. There is no combination that puts SF in.

Edit - unless either of the big 2 would countenance it, and they won't.

SF have a bit of a dilemma - they'd probably prefer to go in with FF/FG as they could then say failure to achieve on few (or any) of their policy objectives was due to having to compromise with other party.

They could try and cobble together coalition of the left but likes of Rich Boy, Paul Murphy or Mick De Dub would shaft them in first sticky situation when tough decisions have to be made.
