A look inside the old Odlums Building

I've been watching these guys recently, they travel around breaking into abandoned buildings and seeing what state they're in today.

This video caught my eye as it's the old Odlums building in Cork. It's quite poignant in ways, it's decrepid and forgotten, but there are signs of what life used to be like. Lads' mugs left behind in the canteen, old newspapers lying around, and probably a lot of memories lingering from guys who worked there over the years.

Definitely worth a watch.

Coming over here. Breaking into our abandoned buildings …

Seriously though, interesting video.

There used to an be online site about abandoned buildings including St Anne's. Really interesting to see the macabre almost dereliction. I used live with a girl whose family were Odlums. They were really wealthy and lived in a listed building in Clare.
That video makes it look almost untouched.

Just looking at the plan there. They're retaining the facade when they expand. That's something at least

Is the Odlums sign gone from the front of the building already?

That whole area really is a special part of old Cork. It reminds me of those US industrial cities where everything closed down and was just left derelict.

The days of lads working all day in the factory are gone. It's all laptops and slip on shoes without socks now

I don't know. Times sure be a charging. It's going to be completely renovated down around there. You make me think of Silent Hill

There won't be much of old Cork left. I wish I'd started going out taking photos of these places years ago.

I went into town at the peak of Covid and took a load of photos of the city completely empty, I'm really glad I did as I wouldn't believe it was ever like that was it not for the pictures
