A fella and his pals got stranded in Fountainstown

Me and a few friends went to fountains town beach yesterday via the 220x around 1 in the evening, when we finished up and we went to the bus stop to prepare to leave the bus that had said 7:15 was cancelled so we waited for the next one. That was cancelled then too. Then the next one. It was half 9 by the time we decided to call the capwell depot to try and get support and we were told the last bus was meant to be 9:15 and was also cancelled. I asked if we could speak to someone to complain or if I could get a reference number for the call I was on but I was told that's not his job he just tells people if the buses are coming or not then hung up. We were stranded at the beach until 1:24am when we managed to get a friend to wake up and drive 2 hours out to get us, even a local lady came up to tell us the bus is abysmal and people have often been stranded out there with no way back to the city. None of us had money left from gathering supplies for a fry up at the beach we just expected to go have fun and come home. This morning I tried to reach out again and I was then hung up on every single time I tried to call the bus eireann support numbers. This citys transport is an absolute disgrace and a complete joke. Unreliable buses and scummy customer service as usual.

Anyway please be careful time wise getting the 220x from fountains town beach because a taxi to carrigaline can be as low as 25 and as high as 40 if you get stuck.

I’m sure when they called Bus Éireann they were perfectly polite and didn’t abuse the people answering phones at all. They’re entitled to complain but Bus Éireann were not going to be able to do anything to get them home.

Why couldn’t they have rang a taxi and stopped by an ATM on the way home or pay by card?

One of mine got the 220 Crosshaven bus with his girlfriend on Saturday.

Was a bit surprised when the bus driver called last stop just beyond Carrigaline.

Pointed out that the bus was displaying Camden but the driver just shrugged lol.

Still though they enjoyed walking the rest of the way.

Reading that just pissed me off more than it should have really.

Erah they sound like a bunch of complete helpless idiots tbh!

Who leaves the house without money in the name of God? If one of my own was going to anywhere, I'd make sure they have enough to get home, thankfully they aren't complete idiots like these people.

Also, how in a group of people do they not have a working phone between them to call someone in an emergency? Young people carry mini power banks etc.

It's typical of certain people in society today to blame everyone else for their own stupidity and problems of their own making in general.

The bus service is a joke, but unless they had their heads up their holes for the last 12 months they should know how unreliable almost every service is in Cork.
