2026 Senior A Hurling Championship

Hard championship next year, there's no handy group really. In every group there's at least 3 you'd make a case for qualifying.

A lot can change between now and championship with league form, injuries, etc.

But if I'd to pick the teams to qualify I'd go

Group A - Blarney, Castlelyons

Group B - Erins Own, Killeagh

Group C - Carrigtwohill, Inniscarra

Group A
Blarney
Castlelyons
Watergrasshill
Ballyhea

Group B
Na Piarsigh
Erins Own
Killeagh
Fermoy

Group C
Carrigtwohill
Inniscarra
Ballinhassig
Courcies
Predictions to get out of their group:

Group A: Blarney & Castlelyons
Group B: Erin's Own & Killeagh
Group C: Carrigtwohill & Ballinhassig

Ballyhea and Fermoy will be early favourites here for relegation, especially Ballyhea considering Group A is so tough. With Daire O' Leary back, WGH might topple neighbours Castlelyons. Blarney hope to have a fit Pádraig Power back to put them in the fold.

My early predictions

Group A. Blarney, WGH
Group B. Erin's Own, Killeagh
Group C. Carrig, Courceys

Blarney and Erin's Own joint favourites in my view with Carrig and WGH/Castlelyons (whoever gets out of that group next in line)

Along with the PIHC this is one cracking grade of hurling.
I'd nearly have Courceys more in danger of relegation than coming out if the group. But they are the fine margins in this championship I suppose

Quiet possibly, I think they got the short straw this year in terms of injuries and being drawn in the hardest group. They didn't even have a recognised goalkeeper available by championships end.
If they get everyone or close to everyone back then they'll be dangerous in that group.

Blarney with Power back will be better in 2026, Castlelyons are ageing so might struggle so Watergrasshill may progress

NaP were down 3 key players for their last 2 games this year which would have made a big difference and they probably should have beaten Killeagh so can do so again - I expect them to go through if they have a full pick. Erin’s Own are ageing also so could struggle so Killeagh to go through perhaps

Carraigtwohill blew the semi this year and will be strong again - don’t know if Courcies have enough coming through so hard to see them progress with the same players again and again - Ballinhassaig could be dark horses and play a good brand of hurling

This looks the most competitive grade we have. Qualifiers from each group are hard to call. The two additions, Erins Own and Ballinhassig will really add to it.

Carrigtwohill, Erins Own and Blarney look strong on paper.

I'd expect much better showings from Killeagh and WGH this year.

Sean Walsh did his cruciate.
Colm Spillane went off with a hamstring injury 3/4 days ago, looked bad enough.

Blarney v Ballinhassig in Div3 League Final this evening could be an interesting spectacle with both in this grade.
