2026 Premier Senior Hurling Championship

Glen well in control in the first half let FON into it a bit more in the second half.

Dalton has done OK for Cork but Downey had him in his pocket much of the game,

Micheal Mullins, my MOTM, in the forwards first half was in defence second half and Eoin Downy swapped.

Ref made some weird decisions. Eoin Downey caught an opponent sweet as you like shoulder-to-shoulder and put him on his arse - ref booked him for it (intercounty Cork are soft), and then second half, he waved Glen advantage, Glenman had the ball in his hand on the edge of the square about to turn his man - ref blows whistle and calls it back for the free on the 40 🤷‍♂️
Caught him straight in the chest and should have been seen a second yellow in the 2nd half and the ref bottled it. Thats the reason he was taken out of the backs 👍

Cormac O Brien outstanding yesterday, can't believe he didn't get man of match. Charleville poor, Newtown chocked them out of the game.

I would argue the Rockies also blew it the previous match. Went 14 points up on FONs and looked likely to win by 20 but started making subs etc and conceded two late goals to only win by 9. They could and should have put it to bed that day

Think it showed that the Rockies dramatically underestimated Kanturk. They'd already beaten the other team tipped (pre-tournament) to come through the group with them, and done so with only 14 men for a lot of the game.

They'd been hammering F O'N and decided to give some fringe players a run in Championship. Had it worked out for them it would've been seen as the right thing to do after running a drag initially with F O'N.

They clearly didn't reckon on Kanturk being as good as they are

Happened within about 20 yards of me and it looked shoulder to shoulder to me tbh - that's why he travelled so far over the touchline rather than crumple in heap.

Being on a yellow card already was probably a big factor in the switch but his aerial dominance up there helped too, and Micheal Mullins did an amount of sweeping up in defence.

Not sure it was the identity of subs so much, think these were the same lads who came on against the Glen, but they just lost focus. Harsh lesson. Tough too to get 4 points out of 6 and not emerge when others got through on 3 points but thems the rules….

Douglas have been a very very poor senior team in recent years as well so you'd never know.
Every year I look at the calibre of player Douglas have and I think, jesus these boys could rattle the county. Over the last 3 or 4 years they've had players the calibre of Shane Kingston, the 2 Cadogans, Brian Turnbull, Cillian O Donovan and yet year after year they struggle to even come out of the group. They seem to play a version of tippy tappy "soft" hurling that was all the rage in Cork 10 years ago and can't seem to get away from it. Watching them frustrates the life out of me.

Id give Fr O Neills every chance of turning them over down in Midleton. O Neills for all their faults will wire into Douglas, some days Douglas just dont have the stomach for the fight and if Sunday the 20th is one such day then Douglas will go down.
Douglas play hurling like a football team.

You know more about club hurling than me Vlad, but I'm pretty sure Douglas didn't have Eoin Cadogan or Brian Turnbull available for most if not all of that time period. More generally, there's been a huge turnover of players since 2022 when they pushed the Barrs all the way. They haven't looked like challenging for anything since then.
