I'd agree with that. I've seen Kevin in action as a coach. He's got an ego (which doesn't bother me) but knows his stuff.Possibly but they're close enough to what's needed to win a county I think. Lads like Cunningham & Buckley another year older and physically developed. They'll be close.
I think Kevin Murray will do well as coach. I just don't rate Paudie as a manager, think his manner is poor and can't see players dying for him, I just think he's the type to create hassle in a camp.
Is that because of the sunglasses??I understand what you're saying but I don't think he's a good fit for the Barrs. Maybe down the grades he might help a team improve but don't think he is suited to modern management of a top team.
Very good analysis Dougie. In order to beat Ballygunner, you cannot give the likes of Dessie Hutchinson, Kevin Mahoney and Patrick Fitzgerald that space inside. Yes, St. Martin's were well structured in the first half and their workrate was manic. The forwards in particular, were not allowing Ballygunner set up play. The likes of Philip Mahoney and Conor Sheehan couldn't pull the strings like they normally do. Even Stephen O' Keeffe didn't have the same options to pick out players as he's used to.After playing really well for the first 40 minutes and mirroring Ballygunner’s shape for much of that time, St. Martin's are starting to struggle. Maybe it’s because of fatigue but they've gone away from what was working for them and are now going man-to-man all over the pitch, which is playing right into Ballygunner’s hands.
In the first half, St. Martin’s were working the ball back and scoring from distance, rather than hitting it into Ballygunner’s half, where there were often 13 Ballygunner players. Now, they’re sending it into a forward line where there is almost no space.
Additionally, in the first half, St. Martin’s half-back line was happy to stay in zonal positions, and weren’t overly bothered that Ballygunner’s half-forward line were dropping back. They had support from their own half-forward line, which made it more effective. Ballygunner really had to earn those scores in the first 40, which is the direct opposite now.
Ballygunner are a class team and are likely to win the club championship, but it’s so much easier for them when they have so much space in front of their full-forward line, and there is so little space in front of their full-back line. They enjoyed that benefit in all of their Munster matches and the last 20 minutes of this game.
Probably not. The fact those clubs are an hour apart as opposed to 10 mins probably makes it a bit different.Sean Daly transferring from Randal Og to the Barrs. Will we see people calling that out like they did with Mullins to the Glen last year?
Cian Mccarthy going back to Sars, interesting to see will he be on there senior panel.Sean Daly transferring from Randal Og to the Barrs. Will we see people calling that out like they did with Mullins to the Glen last year?
50 minutes apparently. I do a similar journey most days (County hall rather than Finbarrs gaa). Sad to see country clubs loosing players to the city. Country clubs dying and having to amalgamate while city clubs have 6 under 12 teams and 3 or 4 adult teamsProbably not. The fact those clubs are an hour apart as opposed to 10 mins probably makes it a bit different.
