There was a college rule at the time where you had to play for the college.
That was repealed in the mid eighties

1970 final was UCC v Muskerry, so either it wasn’t the final or it was a different year.
Not that it matters really, what a silly rule it was that any player could play championship against his own club.
 
did Joe Deane play with UCC V killeagh at 1 point ?
I don’t know, but another poster said the rule was repealed in the mid-eighties which would rule out it applying to Joe.
And I doubt he or any player would choose to play for the college over their own club if it wasn’t a rule that they had to.
