2026 Premier Junior Hurling Championship

Was just about to post the same photos. I thought Kilbrittain got the rub of the green with the decisions but great to see the emotion there. Pity Katie didn’t add a camogie All Ireland last weekend.

Hopefully Kilbrittain can push on now next year. Good balanced team and young too. Strong talk down this way that they have a couple of big players joining them next year, apparently 2 ex intercounty lads who are living there joining next year.

Who are the 2 living there?

Ah yeah. Junior clubs and a lot of club 2nd teams are taking things very seriously these days tbh. The days of getting away with being unfit are almost close to gone unless a player has dropped down a couple of grades or has ridiculous talent.

The effort and expense now to prepare club teams from Senior to junior is no joke!
Ya teams would have always been fairly fit but the muscle teams are carrying these days is a massive change, I suppose there is alot more information available for strength/conditioning and nutrition that wasn't there before and also access to gyms and weights is alot more straight forward.

Years ago we used run until we threw up, this was Canon O Brien's form of conditioning, it worked late on in games to be fair when other teams intensity would drop we still had a bit in the tank.

Not 100% sure on the names but I think one was seamus keating that played a few games for waterford back a few years ago. Apparently some young lad from bandon transferring back to kilbrittain too, played with them underage and lives in the parish. Think his name was O'Mahony, meant to be a decent prospect.

Mayfield might get one last blow out of that group. Int A is a decent grade and very balanced, so I wouldn't rule them out of getting one last buy in from the older brigade, who should be capable of doing well in this grade.
Seems like they went off the rails last year, the previous two years they made a quarter and semi final beaten by Aghabullogue who won it, they had a change of management last year and it showed big time they probably over achieved getting to a semi and quarter I'm also sure they knocked out Lisgoold too, they should def be in the mix for this if they can regain the form of 2023/24. Big year for Tracton , while St Catherines Cloughduv and the Glen should be joining Mayfield in the last 4 if they avoid one another.

Ballygarvan will surely be in the running too
