2026 Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship

Bishopstown potentially getting a third consecutive relegation. Has that happened a club before?

Amazingly their last championship win was Premier Senior against the Glen in 2023.
Since then 11 straight defeats, many of which were one sided.

I’ve no preference in who stays up, but hopefully Bishopstown can regroup in the coming years and stop the slide.
Im not sure a truely awful year for Bishopstown, there is nothing coming through hurling wise….

They're goosed. I wouldn't be surprised to see them drop another couple of grades.
They had this freak minor team that went on to win Two minor,U21s and got to senior final..These lad’s single-handedly carried them for years and relegating the Glen was the last sting from a dying wasp…Sadly ur right they have not reached the bottom yet…

Disappointing to see Lisgoold in a relegation final, fairly clear looking in that the loss of Niall O Halloran as coach has had an impact. I really thought they could be one of the contenders in this grade after their promotion. Albeit winning today, they still find themselves in a relegation battle. I do think they will beat Bishopstown though, who are still trying to find their level. Never nice seeing a newly promoted team get relegated 1/2 years later in any grade.

I’m not sure if it would have made much difference but Lisgoold are definitely one of the clubs who have suffered as a result of the county boards rule that u18s can’t play higher than junior a which means Colm Garde and the Cork minor captain cant play with them. Russel Rovers in a similar position with Darragh Heavin. Or is Premier Intermediate too high a standard that these lads wouldnt make any impact?

That was a very good minor/u21 team but wouldn't have much sympathy for them, after beating Piarsagh in 22 and Glen in 23 there was some of them saying they finished hurling in the Northside.

Delanys weren't far off it. Relegated from senior in 2006. Premier intermediate relegated 2008 and relegated to Junior A in 2009. Think they're Junior B now these days by choice.
