"Outdated" - what a laugh! You seem to think of Widdecombe's mother as akin to Norman Bates'. Maybe Ann Widdecombe simply thought through these positions of her own accord. She most certainly would bring a keener intellect to these matters than you or me or anyone on this forum.

That's quite possible I suppose.

But she did come from a very religious Anglican family. When they decided to ordain women priests she didn't agree with it and joined the Catholic church in protest.

No questioning her intellect but a pity it was stuck in first century thinking.

I didn't dislike her, but thought of her as a little bit eccentric.
