Not sure - when she was minister in charge of prisons, she would support measures that had pregnant women shackled on the journey from prison to hospital but she also did more than any minister (Labour or Tory) in recent times to improve conditions for prisoners. She wanted capital punishment restored but one of very few Tory MPs to campaign to end fox hunting.
She effectively ended the career of Michael Howard who was certainly a hate filled and dangerous person!
