2025 Senior A Football Championship

Knocknagree head and shoulders the best team in this competition for the year and deserved winners today. They are a team that will definitely compete at top level next year.
All the O'Connor's and the McSweeneys along with Dan O'Mahony are quality operators. Somebody told me one of the O'Connors came home from Australia just to play in latter stages of this competition. That showcases the commitment they have.
A pity that second tier winners don't go into Munster from Cork, denying Knocknagree a chance to rattle Munster or All Ireland again. But they will relish the opportunity to take on the big guns next year.
By right I think it's a right arse of a format where the second tier of Cork aren't going into the All ireland series. They should be the ones going into the Intermediate series in my opinion. They are able to facilitate it for the Kerry senior club hurlers in munster where they go into the intermediate championship.

At present you have the second tier in Kerry playing against the third Tier in Cork. How is that fair? Sure the Kerry teams always hockey most Cork teams in that regard due to teams being a mismatch in levels. Knocknagree would be more likely have a big challenge in beating the Gaeltacht of Kerry never mind the current Cork Premier Intermediate champions trying to do it . Such a farce of a system in Cork at present. There should be just Senior, intermediate and Premier Junior and grade the rest as Junior A B C D etc.

Would you increase the teams in playing in each grade then? e.g from 12 to 16?

They have done this to stymie the divisions The players on Senior A teams cannot play for their Division otherwise all the knocknagree Newmarket and Kanturk players could play with Duhallow
Who would want that.? We know who wouldn’t !

It was mentioned here already that Senior A isn't really Senior and isn't Premier Intermediate either. You get no reward for winning a county final except promotion to the top grade for the following year and that is that. Same for the intermediate A grade. I really don't know why they dont have just a Senior , Intermediate and Premier Junior grade and label the grades Junior A B C D etc after that accordingly. That would be the proper way of doing it. You would have strong Senior Intermediate and Junior teams representing Cork in the All Ireland series then. 12 teams in Senior and work downwards would really Benefit Cork club teams going forward. What they have done in Cork is they have diluted the levels to accommodate the number of clubs but it has made club and the grade standards poor in my opinion. Intermediate levels are below par as a result.

It was done to appease the teams that were to drop out of the original senior grade, make their relegation more palatable, and accept the new format and they could still call themselves a Senior club
The CCB could rename the Senior A grade as Prem Intermediate if they wanted to (Galway have done it for next year) and put in a championship by law to stop those clubs playing with divisional teams

Desperate fucking nonsense here in my opinion. How has it made the grade standards poor? It has clearly improved standards by making each grade 12 teams. You get no reward other than promotion? So fucking what, that's all any team aims for at the start of the season. Didn't Kilmurry beat the Kerry champions last year anyway.

Senior a is basically the old intermediate grade .

City teams were moaning about divisional dominance that's why it came in but remember back in the day they had every country man and blow in coming into the city

Everything from 2nd grade of intermediate is basically junior level

I would disagree, I think the current setup has diluted the grades. I'm sure once you win county and have a chance to compete in the All Ireland series you would like to go all the way with your club to win an All Ireland club championship? Surely this matters or maybe it doesn't to some?
