2025 Premier Senior Hurling Championship

I suppose its now viewed by a pointless exercise outside of Imokilly.

The negativity surrounding divisions in general, the slim chance of even being competitive with Imokilly in a final and increased demands of club managers will turn off a lot of young lads.

UCC have struggled to field anywhere near their strongest team also since the year they had that epic game with Blackrock.

Imokilly and Duhallow were probably the most committed divisionsal teams in recent years but I suppose Kanturk going up the grades has torn the heart of out Duhallow in hurling. Still doing ok in football tbf.

Harsh on Imokilly because they have their house in order and have built up an identity and culture, but you either rezone the divisions based on strength of clubs/numbers or just scrap them altogether.

It has become increasingly farcical now with them putting out weakened sides.
It is farcical in the split season and should be haulted.
It was a brilliant way for decades in Cork but the new club championship structure and the fixture congestion within the split season has nailed the coffin

I've often thought a proper divisional or regional championship (reduce it to 4 regions) where the best in each region (senior clubs too) gets picked and play off against other divisions would be a great spectacle but maybe impossible to find a place for it now in the calendar.

I think it would be excellent prep for Cork management teams to view potential players in Jan. Imokilly vs Seandun at full strength would be pretty tasty for example. Certainly better than a non competitive internal game or a game vs a Fitz team that nobody wants to see really.

Anyway that's probably seperate to the debate around divisions in the senior Champ and it certainly looks like their days are numbered.

I have always rated S Condon highly, went to town last night

Granted he is playing Junior A, some of his performances and scores he has put up over the years have been remarkable

Nothing wrong with playing junior a 2 of the footballers backline are from Junior A clubs and both played well last saturday.

There is nothing wrong with playing Junior A.

My point is when he gets 1-13 or 2-12 for his club the perception is ah its only junior and would not get that time and space at a higher level

I just think if he was playing at a higher level more frequently he would have been tried at IC senior level.
