2025 Premier Senior Hurling Championship

Completely. Those wide open spaces in Croke Park. FFS.
Wide open spaces ffs. When fellas go on about that. Same competition how can pitch suddenly be huge. Plenty clubs have pitches maximum dimensions.

Is the dart board at ally pally bigger than other venues, or snooker tables at crucible have bigger pockets...

It's a myth

Huge difference to playing in Mitchelstown,Fermoy Castletownroche than playing in Semple Stadium.Ask any player who played there.

Munster and all ireland intercounty played in SV PUC, Semple, Galeic grounds and Ennis ...and Croker... point is ther difference between them is hardly astronomical.

Obviously Castletownroche is neither of above

Sorry, I missed your insightful reply Digger.
Cusack Park: 145 x 90 meters. 13050 m2.
Croke Park: 145 x 88 meters. 12760 m2.
Pairc Ui Chaoimh: 144 x 88 meters. 12672 m2.
Gaelic Grounds: 137 x 82 meters. 11234 m2.
Semple Stadium: 145 x 80 metres. 11600 m2.

Delta between biggest and smallest? 1450 m2. Or in the case of width there's an 8 metre diff between say Croke Park and Semple. In a game of inches sometimes, you would have thought with Cork's speed that could have been a significant advantage. Unfortunately, we didn't really take it. A good few balls went into the wings earlier on alright, but no real effort to hare after it. My opinion.

Measurements as per Google.

Na Piarsaigh died with their boots on but Ballygunner always looked like winning that, and will be favourites for Munster. They didn’t have to work nearly as hard as Na Piarsaigh for their scores. They brought 12/13 players in their own half for a lot of the game, and had the world of space in front of their forward line.

Sars have to be able to draw them out by scoring points from distance. They might have to bring their own forwards back into the Sarsfields half. It doesn’t make for a great watch but they probably have to be willing to play the sliotar backwards into their own half back line. Very little to be gained by trying to run into three or four players in the Ballygunner half, or by hitting a high ball into a half with that many players. Even if you win possession you’re surrounded by players.

The likes of Elliot, Kearney, Murphy and McCarthy were able to score from distance which was so key to their win last year. On the other side, the Sars half-back line can’t be following the Ballygunner players back that deep into the Ballygunner defense. The likes of Hutchinson and Fitzgerald are unplayable when you give them space to run into. If Sars forwards are able to work backwards and crowd out the Sars half more than Ballygunner forwards do on the other side, then they have a decent chance.
