Correct if talking about Clon of 5 years ago - but not so today, we have the 2 of the top 5 young forwards in the county in Daly and Gough, we have one of the most accurate marksmen in the county in Dara O'Se, and THE best underage forward in the county in Tom Whooley. Added to that we have very capable forwards like McEvoy, Mannix, Luke Griffin, all very capable players who would make most if not all starting 15s in the county.I cant see them challenging unless they unearth a few real scoring forwards..they were blessed to have a talent like John Hayes to carry them to victory man a day but they just dont see to be producing class forwards abit like their neighbours in Clon
I see clons 2nd string were also beaten during the week. Conveyer belt of talent ain't there FoxCorrect if talking about Clon of 5 years ago - but not so today, we have the 2 of the top 5 young forwards in the county in Daly and Gough, we have one of the most accurate marksmen in the county in Dara O'Se, and THE best underage forward in the county in Tom Whooley. There's a case to be made that we actually have the best set of forwards in the county, IMO midfield is an issue for us, we shouldn't be wasting the likes of Shanley or O'Sé out there.
Sort midfield and we will stroll to a county in 2026. We may need to look outside the parish...did I hear someone link us to Jack Lawton lately? Maybe a return for Joe Grimes. You can be sure that moves are already being made behind the scene to sort something.
Depends on the drop off to Senior A really, they failed to win a game in 3 years and only managed a few draws against poorer teams. They might come back up quickly but it's hard to see any change in circumstances without a decent change in mindset (more than likely on the back of a regime change).I cant see them challenging unless they unearth a few real scoring forwards..they were blessed to have a talent like John Hayes to carry them to victory man a day but they just dont see to be producing class forwards abit like their neighbours in Clon
Knocknagree look a serious team around the right age profile too.Ultimately, either of the Senior A finalists will add far more to the top tier next year.
You are talking to the wrong Ross men. There's a realism and understanding amongst the genuine Ross GAA men I meet, they realise any small club that loses players of the quality of John & Seamus, McMahon, Kiely, Fitzpatrick, Shanahan etc and doesn't have any genuine standout underage stars coming through is going to struggle big time to retain senior status.Talking to a few Ross stalwarts thls this evening.
According to them the management need to go ASAP and the players want them gone.
Egos a big problem in that management team.
