The group stages of the Muskerry championship came to an end this week, and we had 2 groups decided on score difference.
Eire Og vs Kilmichael
A cracking game to start the weekend, which saw Kilmichael back up my prediction and win this one by 3 points. This win meant that Kilmichael topped the group with Eire Og just behind them on score difference. Kilmichael were down 7 points 10 minutes into the second half but came alive when it mattered to turn the game on its head. Very impressive second half display from the boys of Kilmichael, who as I mentioned before, always have a big performance in them. This scoreline unfortunately, knocked my dark horses Naomh Aban out of the competition on score difference.
Grenagh vs Clondrohid
Grenagh had an impressive 3 point win against Clondrohid which saw them top the group and head straight to a semi-final. I went to this game and must say I was very impressed with Grenagh. They play a nice style of football and would be my ones to watch going forward. One thing I'll say is that they did miss a lot of chances, which on another day and nearly today could come back to bite them. Clondrohid even after losing still made it out of this group by the skin of their teeth on score difference. This stroke of luck has landed them with a quarter-final spot against Kilmichael which will be an absolute cracker and both teams will give themselves a serious chance of making a mid-cork semi-final.
Ballincollig vs Dripsey
Ballincollig and Dripsey played it out just after the Clondrohid and Grenagh game, so Ballincollig knew going into this that a win by 9 or more points was required in order to go through. In my opinion this is not fair at all and I reckon there would've been war if Clondrohid didn't make it through. Ballincollig did win the game by 6 points but that wasn't enough for them and dumped them out the championship. Another good performance from Dripsey who had nothing to play for and rested 1 or 2 for hurling next weekend.
Aghinagh vs Ballinora
Aghinagh absolutely blitzed Ballinora in a game that was good for no one but was expected really. Aghinagh are looking very good but my only worry would be that they haven't had a competitive game really since the first round at the end of July and won't have one now for another month. Relegation playoff for Ballinora.
Donoughmore vs Kilmurry
Kilmurry conceded. They are playing Junior C tonight and if they are able to field they should be booted from Junior A which I expect to happen.
The Draw
Quarter Final 1
Kilmichael vs Clondrohid
Quarter Final 2
Donoughmore vs Eire Og
Semi Final 1
