2025 Junior A Football Championship

100% agree with you something needs to be done. Not sure how it could be done though ?
Every dual club knows this is a possibility come the start of the season..cant blame Caheragh/Kilmac for this situation nor the Carbery board as the JAFC is their flagship competition and rightly so should take priority over County run competitions

I think it’s no coincidence that when kilbrittain finally decide to take football seriously, they also see an improvement in their hurling. You simply can’t beat winning in my opinion.
Completely agree with you… A rising tide lifts all boats.. I don’t know much more evidence people need for this..

In my opinion that’s what made Kilworth and Blarneys decision to pull out of their divisional football championships half way through to concentrate on hurling so strange. They are both out of hurling now and left with nothing and I bet they wish they had football to fall back on.

Seandun Semi Finals:
Nemo Ranger vs Whitecross
Douglas vs Mayfield

Nemo to beat Whitecross and I think Mayfield will beat Douglas. They have been going well recently and after a disappointing season last year they will hope to return to their form of 2023 when they reached the County final. Hard to know what team Douglas will come with.

Whats the state of play elsewhere for semi finals weekend?

Looking at muskerry,
Grenagh vs Donoughmore, grenagh defeated them in the hurling last week after extra time, think a bit of niggle will follow through from that. Fancy donoughmore to have enough but maybe won't win by as much as expected.

Eire og vs Aghinagh in the second game, very hard to call with eire og only after playing some very poor second teams and aghinagh look to be improving with every game. I think another tight game but gonna go with aghinagh to pull through by 1 or 2 with they're experience telling.

Carbery Semi Finals
Kilmacabea v Kilbrittain
St Marys v Tadgh MacCarthaigh

It'll take a good team to stop Kilmacabea this year and despite not really hitting the heights against Barryroe, would feel they'll have enough against a much improved Kilbrittain. Saying that if Kilbrittain can win the midfield battle then it coukd be very close, but I'd have to stick with Kilmacabea to win by 4.

Second game is alot harder to call as neither side have been overly convincing. Tadgh Mac squeezed past a very game Goleen in the quarters while St Mary's snook past Mathunas by the bare min aswell. If Olan Corcoran is fit then I'd go for St Mary's but without him I'd give the nod to a youthful Caheragh side but only by 1 point

Find a solution for a club that promotes both codes

Caheragh and Kilmac promote one code in their clubs.

St Mary’s promote both but they’re out of the hurling

Kilbrittain being penalised for being successful
Potentially start the junior championship in July? Second teams would cause an issue perhaps but it’s madness to penalise teams for success in both. I remember one year St Mary played two finals in 5days!

I wish kilbrittain the best in their games. A proud club.

Remember Kilbrittan playing Dohenys in a winner takes all west cork county back in the early 90s what a blood bath that was. Always had footballers down there. Owen Sexton was some footballer.

In Clonakilty, mother of all scraps at the final whistle.
Kilbrittain won the fight but Dohenys won the West Cork and County
