2024 Senior A Football Championship

Is this years Senior A the biggest gulf in quality yet? A lot of hammerings and easy to predict games. There has been no real upset yet, except Btown yesterday, but admittedly Newmarket going poor all year. I suppose with the current format, this is to be expected after 4/5 years.
In an ideal world after the 1st round the winners and losers would play each other and at least then in the final round there would be no dead rubbers compared to now. Would be logistical nightmare though

Great point, I’d be firm believer in 2 up, 2 down. But that could possibly dilute county final, particularly at Senior A and Intermediate A. But the prize for Premier Intermediate and Premier Junior winners would be Munster run etc. Would also keep round robin fresh, less potential for repeat pairings etc.

Danno has a long range point in him unlike Taylor. Worked for conor mccarthy Monaghan pops up with a few points game now would be interesting to see.
Conor McCarthy stood out for Monaghan but Danno struggled when playing inter-county senior albeit he was in attack. Stood out in attack at minor level though.

Few Observations from the CNM game -

Desmond nowhere good enough for goalkeeper inter county kick out is poor

Would love to see Danno as a wing back at Intercounty level pace is frightening and can score
I don't think desmond will care much about cork after beating beal atha.

Clyda and skibb two strong senior teams one time seem to be struggling badly now and on road to nowhere . Remember the big games skibb and haven had in the day . . Sad to se tgat rivalry gone and haven pulling away out ahead of them

Could see Skibbs downfall happening slowly over the last number of years sadly. They were picking up wins here and there glossing over the cracks, but were taking some beatings to. They were embarrassed down the pairc in a semi a few years back, and again against Kanturk this weekend (the winners of this grade outright imo).

Did they win the West Cork U21B this year? A town team should be aiming to be competitive at A grade at least. Also they were playing 3rd grade minor football and even 4th grade at one stage? Is that still the case? They should be looking to develop their players to play Premier 2 at least. Although they’re not the only town team not performing to their potential at underage.

What are any of the big towns in Cork doing in football?
Youghal, Midleton, Cobh, Passage-West, Carrigaline, Kinsale, Bandon, Clon, Skibbereen, Bantry, Macroom, Mitchelstown, Fermoy, Mallow.

14 of the biggest towns there producing 1 player starting for Cork.
The fellas running Cork GAA are asleep at the wheel.
