2024 Premier Senior Hurling Championship

John Horgan in the echo says the Imokilly v O Neils game will probably be played in the city but should be played in Midleton,
It was announced for Midleton sunday night.
You wouldn't want to be reading too much of what he says. He was listing the 7 teams that would Likely make Quarter/Semi finals last week where 4 teams were through already and the other 3 were in pole position after he getting caught trying to pick big guns earlier in the year with league runners up as attached.

He "retired" 3 years ago but still writing articles. He might just be going a bit doolally so we should probably lay off him a bit. The Echo editorial team on the other hand deserve a good kicking.

I'd expect Midleton to have too much hurling for Newtown. To Newton's credit, they are tough and resilient. They will be reliant on Tim O' Mahony and Jamie Coughlan for inspiration. Cormac O' Brien has been relatively quiet for them from what I saw this year. Ronan Geary is always good for a goal. If Newtown get goals, they'll make a game of it. Otherwise, Midleton should win by 5 or more points.

I see Blackrock are 1/3 to beat Kanturk at the weekend. Kanturk are 3/1. There is value in that bet in my opinion. Kanturk like Fermoy as a venue. Kanturk also showing up well in all 3 of their group games including drawing with Midleton. They are the most physical team in Cork but against another physical team in Blackrock. It could be a war of attrition hopefully. Connolly and Cotter may be the difference in the end if they are not contained.

Imokilly are hot favourites to beat Fr O'Neills here. But I expect this to be a good game. Fr O' Neills already beat the Barrs in Clonmult Park in Midleton this year so coming back to that venue again will put a pep in their step. Imokilly's firepower should pull them through in the end but Fr O'Neills might spoil them too.
