2024 Premier Senior Hurling Championship

If they lose the county final they won’t even reach the bed to shit all over it. 😀

To be fair most teams have shat the bed over the last decade at least

What we badly need is clubs winning 2 in a row or 2 in 3 years so they will start focusing more on the Munster championship when they get to it
I disagree slightly. We need 2/3 clubs at least to be at a very similar level to each other and neck and neck every year to win it. Sars and Midleton were the two best clubs this year but neither particularly impressive. That’s not great. Imokilly looked the team to beat before they pucked a ball.

Since 1988 Newtown are the only cork winner in Munster(3 times) We've had 4 other finalists total since then. Since Newtown last won in 2009 only the Glen made the final in 2016.

Imagine going back to 1980 and telling a Cork hurling supporter that after dominating the country for the entire 70s that the big 3 city clubs would have 2 Munster final appearances and no wins in the following 40 years.

We have plenty of championship contenders every year, Sars, Midleton, Rockies, Barrs and the Glen (before relegation) are always in the frame. But none of them have put back to back in the last 5 years or even won 2 in those years

It just shows how special those 3 teams of the 70s early 80s were and their rivalry certainly rose the standards in Cork. The game has opened up lsince and smaller clubs can now have success, Midleton led the way followed by Newtown and both went all the way but it’s a long time since we’ve won a senior club

The big 3 City clubs is just as much consigned to history as the big 3 at inter-county. Cork haven’t won in 20 years, Kilkenny 10 and Tipp to be fair have kept the flag flying.

Clare have won more All Irelands in 30 years than Cork. The big 3 has been shattered at intercounty since the 90s with a renaissance in the 00s (and that was mostly Kilkenny). It’s been shattered at club level in Cork fora similar length of time. 6 between them in 25 years.

Mindset is a big thing, When Ballygunner win the county their thoughts turn immediately to Munster, When a cork club win the county the thoughts for many players turn to the session and how many days they can get out of it,
The Waterford County Championship is only a warm-up for Ballygunner, their focus is on the Munster club from early in the year. Totally different world to the Cork clubs.

Wouldn't agree with that, players are entitled to go on the lash for a week or so, since Newtown how many of the winners are actually good enough to win a munster club? How many of the winners in the last 5 years are better than Na Piarsaigh, Killmallock, Ballyea, not to mention Ballygunner and after that St Thomas and Ballyhale as far as I can see theres no team anywhere close to that level. Its easy to have a positive mindset when you know your good enough and have proven it.

Fair point

I can imagine after winning 9 or 10 in a row the buzz goes a little bit. I think I saw somewhere that one of them has 14 ?
