2024 Premier Senior Hurling Championship

When you see small junior clubs like Rathpeacon having to organise additional tournaments to give lads extra games in the division you know the City Board is doing a poor job.
They are only interested in their county board perks, no interest in the city board. I would name the biggest offender but seeing as his clubmate here has penchant for reporting posts, I won't bother.

Some good suggestions there

Here’s another one

All teams that enter the Premier Senior Championship play under the same rules as the clubs

* All teams enter at the group stages and play in a 4 team group, just as the clubs have to do

* No team entered in the Premier Senior Championship be exempt from relegation, just as the clubs are not exempted

* All players that play Premier Senior Championship are tied to that grade for the year and cannot subsequently play at a lower grade that year, just as the clubs have to do

A level playing field for every team and then May the best team win

Sure who could disagree with that?
I don't think anyone has an issue with your first 2 points.

Your 3rd point is off the wall though and really shows a complete lack of understanding for divisions and smaller clubs. The purpose of divisions is to allow every player in the county to play in the Senior hurling championship no matter how weak his club is. For all the giving out we do about the county board it's to their credit that every hurler in this county has a pathway to the senior championship. By taking away the divisions your depriving hurlers of this.

If a player from a senior club wants to play in the lower grades then there's nothing stopping him from making himself unavailable for selection for his clubs 1st team. Cluxton did it for years to Parnells.

It's a pity more of the divisions aren't as well organised as Imokilly and have a real cut at making a dent in the championship.

Not since 2021, no interest or support from the Seandun board.
They did well enough too that year till the board decided to basically fix junior championship games the same weekend Seandun were playing, was some disrespect in fairness by the board to the management group. Management walked after that as a group and went to coach Inniscarra in the intermediate grade for the following season.

Correct.

Glad we agree there at last

There’s small clubs in the city too and I understand their difficulties very well

So it’s off the wall to suggest any player who plays premier Senior should not then be left play at a lower grade for the year? Yet that’s exactly what the clubs have to do every year

Maybe Imokilly should look at themselves and start playing more players from these smaller clubs instead of packing it with players who are more than already well catered for with their clubs and county

On the back of that It would be interesting to see how many of their starting 15 play Junior A or lower. Any idea?

And Imokilly players should be given that option too

It’s a pity the divisions get preferential treatment instead of playing under the same rules as the clubs

Wasn’t there an issue as well that the board wanted to keep Seandun gear that the players paid for out of their own pocket?

I found the Imokilly team against Blackrock

A miserly 3 starters playing at Junior level plus 1 sub who came on while 12 starters and 3 subs who came on are playing at Premier Junior or higher where they are more than well catered for as they need to be

Real development of the small clubs there by Imokilly ?

IMOKILLY: E Davis (St Catherine’s); T Wilk (Cobh), M Russell (Aghada), C O’Brien (Cpt) (St Ita’s); D O’Leary (Watergrasshill), C Joyce (Castlemartyr), J Cronin (Lisgoold); S Hegarty (Dungourney) B Cooper (Youghal); S Harnedy (St Ita’s), D Healy (Lisgoold), B Lawton (Castlemartyr); A Murphy (Watergrasshill), S Desmond (Watergrasshill), J Leahy (Dungourney).

Subs: K O’Neill (Watergrasshill) for Russell (39), M Kelly (Castlemartyr) for Murphy (43), D O’Brien (St Ita’s) for Healy (58), L O’Shea (Lisgoold) for Desmond (60+1).
