2024 Premier Junior Football Championship

It’s early days… no one winning or losing anything in July
Wake me up in a month please
exactly a lot of teams havent had a competitive game in weeks and most clubs at the level seem to be struggling with injuries and players abroad , next round of games will tell a lot though

Fantastic win by buttevant on Sunday evening, nicks were never going to much of a challenge to them anyway but for buttevenat to win in such emphatic fashion fills me with confidence that they’re now the team to beat. I know you can’t put much stock into the league but and impressive campaign from them and were very unlucky to lose to adrigole in the league final in all fairness to them some poor refereeing lost them that game. Although a lot of their scores came late on against a deflated nicks team and the score line does flatter them a bit I don’t think any back 6 will be able to stop the buttevant forwards, I think they’ll go all the way

I somewhat agree with this post. Buttevant have some epic forwards and some of the best forwards in quite a number of grades. I think they’ll be incredibly hard to stop. Can’t write off canovee or kilmurry at this point either. Buttevant should get a stiffer test when they play Milstreet in the next round

Agreed but with the scoring power buttevant have especially in the inside forward like with 2-7 from Conor Hanlon and 2-3 from mark lenahan at the weekend don’t think anyone else will have the juice to keep pace with them heard their other corner forward was a cork minor as well (somehow) so maybe Kilmurry and canovee with give them a good rattle but doubt anyone will keep pace with their scoring

Box office Buttevant will go all the way

Heard they were impressive against a weak Nicks.
Buttevant have a very poor win rate in knock out football lads are saying to me?
Yes they haven’t had the best record but at the same time they haven’t had the Hanlon brothers together in a big championship game they haven’t hit championship in this kind of form in recent memory if they have their full team I can see canovee or Kilmurry giving them a run for their money but buttevant should win it have still been unlucky with injury with the likes of Ryan fowley out for the year but that withstanding should go all the way

This is true. I was at the cobh game last year and David hanlon had to go off injured. His brother Conor on the sideline due to ankle injury. I follow their games on twitter and both alongside mark Lenehan have been heavy heavy scorers in the league. I was at their league final and the three mentioned players were streets above of everybody. I then ventured down to killavullen last Sunday and the three lads were incredible albeit against a poor nicks team. Especially Conor. 2-8 I think it was and every score was as good as the next. I know he has a had a horrid run with injuries but he was a super talent when he was a minor and I’d love to see him get back to his best as cork need a forward like him. I also think kilmurry have the forwards to trouble buttevants backs as do canovee. Buttevant definitely have a lot to prove in the big games. I think this championship will heat up massively in the next few weeks
