2024 Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship

This wasn't really a surprise, loads of hype and talk about Bcollig every year I can't see why, is it themselves creating most of the hype or felas that haven't a clue about the game? They had the easiest group by far, a few Cork 20s the last few years who again have the talk of been better that they actually are, they won't win it next year either or the year after... Mallow in a semi with 2 pts in the group and Kilworth and Aghabullogue who will drop both on 2 pts... Wgh v Carrigaline final for me
Find it hard to understand where the hype about Ballincollig comes from as well. Maybe it's because of the size of the place or that they played division 1 hurling this year or maybe it's because Eammon Murphy the deputy sports editor with the Echo is a Ballincollig man and they get that bit more exposure on the Echo as a result.
Whatever the reason they really should be doing far better as a club. Population of 20k in the place.

Hard to know what to expect from Mallow and Watergrasshill this weekend. Mallow playing football for much of the last month and the Hill have been put into cold storage with the last 7 or 8 weeks. I understand weather caused havoc with fixtures but it's not really satisfactory to have teams waiting those length of times in the middle of championship.

I'm a big fan of the new format but I remain unconvinced by the split season. I don't have a proper alternative for the status quo apart from saying weeknight games must be considered going forward in the event of postponements.

Went to the Mallow v WGH semi final yesterday. Good occasion out in Castletownroche. Huge crowd there. Pitch itself was in poor condition, very soft and grass looked long. Understandable enough given the recent weather.

Game was a tough affair. Lot of hard hitting in it. Conditions suited Mallow I felt more then the Hill, Mallow are huge. Sean and Dan Hayes are a fair size. Sean In particular was very impressive and was a real thorn in the side of the Hill. Mallow had a player sent off just before half time for a needless stamp and while probably not the turning point it just confirmed they were never going to win.

Hill were the better hurlers all through but Mallow really dogged it out with them for as long as they could. I was a bit disappointed with the performances of Daire O Leary and Sean Desmond but Adam Murphy was outstanding all through. Also felt the Hills full backline were very very solid. Very noticeable that the Hill aren't overly reliant on any one player for scores and seem to have a decent spread of firepower.

Think the final will be very exciting. By all accounts their meeting in the first round was a cracker so hopefully we get more of the same. Probably too close to call. Carrigaline flying since they got out of the group, Hill flying all year.

Stokes on the whistle for Sunday after the Glen v Clyons display he should of been dropped back down to the lower grades, huge call by the county board, made a few scandalous decisions that day including the red he never gave, there’s enough decent experienced refs to do the 6 major hurling finals I hope he won’t ruin the game

Because it wasn't a red, d'oh.

Tell the truth they had ye rattled and he bailed ye out, they gave ye the only challenge ye got all year and if Barry and O’Leary stayed on the field ye might of been glad to carry the cup over the bridge
Barry was being taken to the cleaners before he went off(not his fault he shouldn't have started), so much so they moved NOL back there. By the way if as you nonsensically claimed that RD should have been sent off, so should Barry.
As for the referee, how many frees did the Glen get in the second half?

Not even a yellow for Downey. Now tell the truth if you were at the game, it was a clear red for Barry.
