they are down as junior winners in 04 and inter in 05, interesting that we won the first three inters and the two of the first five juniors before the change in grades so we have clearly put our clubs at a disadvantage. https://munster.gaa.ie/history/roll-of-honour-2/When Carbery Rangers won it there was only 3 grades in Cork football so effectively in today's terms would be the premier intermediate winners playing.
KnM played them in that county final and went up a grade aswell that year from memory.
Didn't Carbery Rangers win an Intermediate Munster aswell without winning the County in Cork ? Was the year Nemo won both Senior and Intermediatte Counties or am I dreaming?
Think they beat Glanmire the following year to win the County?
On your first paragraph - not really, as there were about 18 teams in both senior and intermediate so the depth was much more diluted. When Carbery Rangers won it there was only 3 grades in Cork football so effectively in today's terms would be the premier intermediate winners playing.

Same happened Kanturk a number of years ago. They had to go back playing the Kerry champions in their backyard a week after they won the county final. So you can't be going by that. You just have to beat who is in front of you. It's the luck of the draw.the last two winners we have had are outliers in that Kilmurry were playing 3rd final on the trot which can never happen again and Cill na Martra got to play the Kerry champions on their own pitch a week after winning the Kerry inter.
This was in PUC and Rathmore were a team that have regularly played senior, a bit of a yo-yo club in Kerry between senior and intermediate.Same happend Kanturk a number of years ago. Not referring to that match. I think Kanturk played Dromid or some Kerry team in the junior grade a number of years ago. It was back in Kerry they played them. This was in PUC and Rathmore were a team that have regularly played senior, a bit of a yo-yo club in Kerry between senior and intermediate.
There are some upsets within the Kerry championships and Milltown/Castlemaine & Firies winning were upsets to an extent. Kilmurry are probably not a junior club but fell victim to the regrading so had to do another year in junior. They should technically have gone to IA when they won the JA a few years ago. They met an exceptional Fossa side then and a good Listowel team last year when they entered Munster as PJ runners up. Firies were always going to be a much more even standard for them to meet this year and so it proved.
There are exceptions to the rule but generally the facts tell us Kerry rule the roost in Munster over Cork clubs at all levels. I think that is down to the Kerry system of less senior teams. It’s hardly rocket science. I still wouldn’t change anything within our system though in Cork as I think it’s levelling out excellently and eventually that will show itself more fruitfully for clubs in Munster and beyond.
Ballinderry beat Stacks 11-7, some price at 4/1!Not referring to that match. I think Kanturk played Dromid or some Kerry team in the junior grade a number of years ago. It was back in Kerry they played them.
