2024 Junior A Football Championship

In my opinion you may be looking too much into the County leagues here. I would say at this moment in time Eire Og are probably the strongest Junior team in the County - that is likely to change a lot as the senior championship progresses though. When it comes to the knockouts in Muskerry and Eire Og have potentially lost a few I think Donoghmore will be the strongest but the whole thing will come down to the draw from that point of view. With Aghinagh I think they might be a year or so too late to go up. They do have a fairly young team but a good core of the side the likes of Ambrose are pushing into their mid 30s regularly this wouldn't be a problem but looking at what's coming behind in Aghinagh I don't think it's capable of bringing the team forward.

Very early to call, but always an interesting championship, so I'd be interested to hear what others think.
I'd have Aghinagh as the slight favourites, followed by Kilmacabea, Argideen Rangers, Liscarroll/Churchtown Gaels, Mayfield, Charleville, Castlemagner & Ballygarvan all as teams to watch out for, but a very open and hard to call championship.

Ballygarvan for the junior football county. Aghinagh next best of the rest but might have missed the boat.

Agreed, Ballygarvan will be very hard to beat this year, and will be very motivated in the manner that they lost the final last year, I do still think that Kilmacabea should they get out of Carbery with Gore solely focused on club, will be hard to beat.

I don’t know much about West Cork tbh but a Cork player could make a big difference for sure. Although inter county men aren’t as effective as they used to be before as a lot of club players nowadays train, S&C and mind themselves to a very high standard also.

On the 2nd and 3rd teams you might find them taking a scalp early but as the championships progress those 2nd/3rd teams are severely weakened. The junior county championship runs and finishes 2/3 weeks behind the higher county grades so by the time the county junior championship kicks off it’s usually only 1st teams left.

will be very interesting to see how st James get on in Carbery. I’d have them just behind kilmacabea as the team to beat.
