2024 Junior A Football Championship

Mallow juniors have now lost James Loughrey as he came on with 15 minutes to go v Nemo on Sunday. Mallow were probably better off at that stage to spare him for the Juniors, especially when they had already used 20 or 21 players to the senior team.

Carbery JAFC Semi Final Result:
Kilmacabea 1-13
St Marys 1-9

A right battle in Ballinacarriga ends with Liam McCarthy hitting the winning goal to send the Kilmacs back into the final against Diarmuid O Mathuna's

Carbery JAFC final fixed for next Saturday night in Dunmanway at 7:30pm. Not giving Mathuans much time to prepare after the hurling final tomorrow. Kilmacabea would be hot favourites you'd imagine

Duhallow Final:

Castlemagner 2-11 Knocknagree 0-7.

Talking to a Knocknagree man last week and he said between using 22 players for the senior team and lads injured or away, their junior team was very depleted. Credit to Castlemagner for winning their 2nd Duhallow title in a row. But in all honesty, they won a very easy competition so the real football starts now for them. I can see the Duhallow championship amalgamating with Avondhu in the next 10 years unless some teams get relegated back to Junior soon.

whilst an amalgamation could happen, i can’t see it, as many clubs in duhallow are not what they once were, Millstreet are going backwards at an alarming rate, ballydesmond are not that strong either, hard to know with cullen, they seem decent. but if millstreet and ballydesmond went down at least it would be a couple more teams for the championship

That could well happen. Some of the aforementioned teams would be better off down Junior A again.

Used to love going down for their final. Last one I attended was Knocknagree v Boherbui,2 classic games . Remember the meetings of Newmarket v Kiskeam in the 90s and the battles of Rockchapel,Dromtarriffe and even Cullen in noughties absolutely brilliant spectacles. It’s died a death recently as most good things seem to have.

absolutely, the Duhallow final was always a battle, its a funny old Division it seems some teams are excelling at a serious rate Knocknagree Newmarket Kanturk Boherbue. However on the otherside there’s clubs that are in really worrying places such as ballydesmond and kiskaem seem numbers is the problem there, and millstreet a really poor club these days
