2023 Premier sfc

Douglas kicking off their league campaign with a win down in kiskeam. I’d imagine a hard fought 2 points as that’s a tough place to go at this time of the year. Low scoring affair , 1-08 to 7
Unusual to see Douglas win that kind of game, they wouldn’t usually have the stomach for a tough early season game outside of the city. Presumably kiskeam were understrength.

Going to be a tough few weeks for Ross
2 poor performances and playing Nemo & Barrs next
Not looking good for them. You’d have to wonder are they disheartened at their championship draw? Prospects of progression are slim given they have 2 of the big 4 in their group.

Still wouldn’t write them off though, they’re short a lot at the moment.

"From a Clon perspective we’ll take that. We should have beaten the Haven this year. And even with a few potential absentees we’ll have too much for Valleys and Ross."

I wouldn’t be overly worried about the group, neither Ross nor Valleys have the same calibre of players as Clon, and I’d expect us to rattle the Haven even without our absentees. Tough battles, no doubt but I’d be surprised if we don’t come out of that group.

You already have written them off!

When I say I wouldn’t write them off, I’m saying I wouldn’t say they’ll be certainties to finish last or to be relegation candidates. I certainly don’t think they’ll beat either ourselves or Castlehaven but I wouldn’t be surprised if they give us both a good game.

I have a lot of respect for Ross, they’re a well run club who have progressed hugely in the last 20 years. They’re far from being one of the big 4 but if they can win another couple of counties they’ll have every right to call themselves a heavyweight.
