That ye can in fairness, mad that he was floating about for 6 months or so with no club

The Glen had won the previous 7 counties in a row before Christy Ring, who as you say had no club, decided to throw his lot in with them. To be fair, where else would an ambitious hurler want to play for but with the all powerful and incredibly dominant Senior County Champions

The Barrs Babes driving on on both fronts, fair fuckin play to them, two huge finals ahead for us now. Having a clear fortnight to the hurling final won’t help us, we’re not used to weekends off. Praying the injuries are not serious either. Worrying times for the Barrs Babes
Worrying times indeed. In both County finals, tough going alright 😀.

A competitive guy like Ringy might have been tempted to take on more of a challenge, ie help the Barrs or the Rockies return to the top, but a meeting with Jack Lynch in town settled Christy’s mind on The Glen and the rest as they say is history

The strong club teams team in 1979/80/81 had a good collection of really talented "club hurlers" who never got much of a chance of making the Cork team. The 1976 to 78 3 in arow meant little change and therefore opportunity as the settled set up was hard to break into and the early exit in 1980 didnt help.

John Cremin , Eamon Fitzpatrick, Niall Kenefick all might have been worth more of a run but it just never happened. Nowadays there would be more scope for more players.

Thats so true. We nearly lost John Fenton due to this core setup
