All this talk of the embarrassment should one of your "children" get engaged or married to someone from a weird place got me wondering what would be the worst place for a prospective son/daughter in law to be from.
Southsiders wouldn't be great, but at least they'd be a step up from someone from "out the country", and they in turn would be better than someone from, a neighbouring county, and it goes down hill the closer they get to dublin (geographically, in mindset, or in accent - I'm thinking the wa'ford gowls)
So on a sliding scale of 1 for a Norrie, 2 for a Southsider, 3 for someone from County Cork etc, up to 10 for a dub - where would someone from Manchester count -lower than 10 obviously but how much lower - "asking for a friend"
