I’m surprised how few injuries there were. It was a truly scrotumtightening prospect to be the last free man about to line up for your run, everyone else with fists and feet ready to clock ya. LOL, concrete and tarmac surfaces an’ all.

So, World Athletics is going to pay €50,000 to each gold medal winner in the athletics events at the Olympics. That’s a big change - and they’re extending the cash to silver and bronze in LA. I’d say Paul O’Donovan is thrilled at the news…

That is one heck of a collapse from Ireland yesterday - tipping along nicely at 93 -2 then they proceed to lose eight wickets for 26 runs. Ouch

    Senior Cup Rugby (CBC )

Was at the game - with 10 tries, it was a great match between the two old rivals. Fair dues to CBC for coming back from 33-14 with 12 minutes to go to nearly draw it. Tough on the out half to have to attempt that conversion off his right foot from out wide in the gale - he played an absolute...

That section of the river was still in use for shipping back then - the centre span of the bridge was higher to allow ships to pass through with lowered masts. The resulting opening was narrow, so ships needed to be lined up dead centre and perpendicular to the bridge to safely pass through. The...

Do you mean there was more or less extra time cases under the old rule? I wonder are there more or less ties decided by spotters since the change.

What reason did they give for abolishing the away goals rule? Just about every other rule change since Italia ‘90 has been about increasing open play, favouring attackers and scoring more goals. I could never figure why they nixed the away goals rule.

Loads of the big guns weren't there - a lot of them prefer to focus on Europeans or Olympics. Others prefer the early season championship to get them going. From the Irish side, Mageean and all of the male middle-distance lads gave it a skip too. Rashidat ran 300m indoors a few weeks ago - and...
